How This Canadian Man Built a 100,000-Tin Skincare Business by Rejecting The 'Woke' Mind Virus and Big Pharma

Ben Corkery, founder of The Tallowed Truth, has built a business selling what he calls "pro-freedom, non-woke" skincare.
Yes, you read that correctly.
From COVID Lockdowns to Kitchen Startup
After switching to an animal-based diet during the pandemic to improve his mental health, Ben started questioning everything he put on his body, not just in it. He knew beef tallow would be beneficial because, as he puts it, we "eat through our skin."
The timing wasn't random. This was during COVID, when the government and Big Pharma were pushing vaccines. Ben wanted to create something natural, a brand that pushed back against the corruption and chemical ingredients found in typical skincare products.
In the spring of 2023, Ben and his brother started making F-Balm (Freedom Balm) in their basement–and what began as a personal solution became a full-blown business.
Why This Brand Is Proudly "Non-Woke"
Frustrated by the government mandates and lockdowns of 2022, Ben took a controversial angle with his marketing, leaning into the "freedom movement" that culminated in the Canadian Freedom Trucker Convoy.
"That was such a dark time in our country and across the world. They were segregating society, forcing people to get the jab. It was a blatant violation of our basic human rights, and it made me so mad," Ben said.
"The Freedom Convoy gave me and millions of other people hope. I never want to forget those brave people and what they did, so I decided to bring the freedom message into my business."
The brand's hero product, "Freedom Balm" (F-Balm), is a grass-fed tallow balm that doubles as both an all-purpose skincare solution and a physical reminder of the freedom movement.
But what started as a fight for freedom has evolved into a much broader fight against what many right-wing activists call the "woke agenda."
The Ads That Sparked Outrage (And Sales)
The Tallowed Truth has openly posted content and run marketing campaigns poking fun at far-left policies around the trans movement, global warming, high taxes, and immigration.
One ad in particular sparked drama on Facebook when the brand showed an image with two products, drawing a comparison to two genders.

"We definitely toe the line," Ben admitted. "But this isn't about being hateful. It's about telling the truth in edgy ways. I mean, come on, isn't it crazy that stating a biological fact is somehow offensive in 2025?"
Other ads poke fun at critics of the brand, citing real messages from outspoken activists, or touting traditional values with humorous memes.

Although Ben's messaging drives some potential customers away, being controversial is not something the brand shies away from.
"It's right in the name, The Tallowed Truth. We say what other companies are afraid to say and we stand up for the values that most corporations don't. I just wanted to build a company that didn't go along with all the woke BS or toe the line with being politically correct. Inclusivity is fine, but the woke agenda is ruining society and it's not ok. They're poisoning the food, destroying the economy and pushing the trans agenda on the kids in school. We believe that is evil, so we're gonna call it out."
5,000+ Five-Star Reviews Later: Inside The Tallowed Truth's Growing Facility

While critics have advised Ben and his team to step away from the edgy marketing and openly traditional values, the company has continued to grow rapidly, well beyond the humble kitchen beginnings into a sprawling 6,000 square foot facility where now close to a dozen team members are busy making F-Balm and other tallow products, now sold on the company's website.
"I wanted to create the brand that I wish existed. I used to like Old Spice but then they went woke, so we're gonna make the tallow version of all this stuff and people will either love it or hate it and that's just fine."
With over 5,000 reviews on the company's website, it's clear that many customers "love it," citing relief from eczema, wrinkles, dryness, and chronic skin conditions, along with appreciation for the brand's messaging and stance.
"We're just going to keep going and see what happens, but I think we need more companies standing up for traditional values and pushing back against the mainstream media and government policies that are destroying our economy and hurting our families."
